During installation of my new Mupo Fork Spring Kit from Todd, I noticed that one fork did not have
a washer between the Fork Cap and the Spacer, and the other did. The front end was off the ground
so they were not compressed and I did not see anything fly out. I double checked the area to make sure that I didn't miss it popping out, but couldn't find anything.

How important is that washer? Not sure what size it is and if I could find it at a local hardware store.

Technically it's both a preload spacer and a surface so that the spring won't chew up the fork cap. It's pretty important, but not so much for a short duration. Remove both, and add it later when you get a replacement (local hardware will suffice). I also highly recommend sliding the forks up in the triple trees 15-20mm, which will ease getting the caps on/off as they'll be well above the pinch bolt squeeze.
