Good on you Montana! leg.mt.gov/bills/2021/BillPdf/SB0009.pdf

Anyone know if Utah’s version is currently in place already?

Cars don’t see us “Now”
With “Us” sneaking between them, I have a hard time seeing it as Better...
It's a mindset shift for sure, but I've done it in the Northeast, where it wasn't legal for a decade plus, full of angry drivers... so when I first rode in California, having people not only "see" you, but often widen the gap was incredible experience for the first few months. It's safer for many reasons as proven here.

I am glad that filtering is spreading. If done right (OK in stopped traffic when passing at a slow and controlled speed) I think it's a great way to reduce traffic and increase safety. Would love to see it here in Canada!

The safest place to be is out in front of the traffic.

Agreed - but that's still no guarantee the $^%@#^$ behind you wont be looking at his phone when he comes up on you when your stopped at a light ...
All the more reason to wait in/on the split at lights.

As Todd stated above - when *all* the motorists are aware and accept the way thing work - I can be a beautiful thing !

WHAT - you have hazard lights on your motor bikes !!!
Awsome :
- use the when you park ! ( illegally)
- use them to indicate to someone you think “They are a Hazzard “
- use them to say Hello !

The Oregon legislature recently passed a similar measure (May 2021) for lane "sharing/filtering." They've been trying for years. The bill that passed was so pared down and limited it was almost worthless. I thought to myself, it's so limited that people are going to abuse the law and rebel...and that's exactly why our enlightened Governor vetoed it a week later. Enforcement, prone to abuse, etc. Oh well, we'll keep trying. I miss seeing motorcycle cops lane split in Cali!

A few years ago on a 95 degree day here in Portland, I made the mistake of riding home through the city on my FZ1 and got stuck in traffic. Later I found out my cooling fan fins had begun to melt while the fan was spinning. The fins had wispy trails of plastic trailing them. hah!
