Hello Guzzi riders!

I am a fresh guzzi enthusiast living in The Netherlands or as people like to call - Holland. This is my first post on this forum, so this time I just want to greet everyone and wish a pleasant ride.

Here is my story... Previously I owned a Suzuki and a Honda and recently I bought a Moto Guzzi v65 from year 1985. I love the feeling of riding a Moto Guzzi, absolutely incomparable to the Japanese bikes. But having switched form Japanese bikes I was presented with the hard reality of guzzi's being not your most reliable bikes, so the transition is hard. I still have some problems with my guzzi even though it went through a full service at my local mechanic who claimed to specialise in classic bikes like BMW, Triumph and MG. The next thing I'll do I will find someone who really specialises in MG. Still expect more forum posts from me with silly questions.

In June me and my wife are going on a trip from Holland to Spain (2000 km), so hopefully I'll get that beautiful, but attention seeking and unpredictable Italian 2-wheeler to do the job for me.

cheers!

Auris,
Glad to have you. My son and I used to have a Batavus moped from the Netherlands. It was a quality machine, and I wish we still had it. Actually, I'm sad that they left the moped business to concentrate on bicycles.

Hi Auris,welcome...I think all guzzis have their own character and no two are the same..........nice looking m'bike by the way!

Hello Auris
If you want to go to a specialist, look for Jan Robers in Boekelo he is also the representatieve from steindinse a Germany Company For guzziparts and other stuff.
V 65's are prtty bike's and they ried verg well.
My wide use to ried one gut artrose on her hands die make her stop riding and we sold the bike.
I used It now and then and It was always fun riding that bike
Succes! Henk

Welcome aboard. Your bike is absolutely lovely. It is 31 years old and will have a few age related issues to work through, any brand would. My friend's wife had a V50 and we all had monster bikes. We could not keep up with her in the twisties, not even close. Your 65 I am sure will be most enjoyable and do not worry about reliability. Guzzi is famous for being stout machines that are overbuilt. I just bought a 1985 Guzzi myself and like you, getting it road worthy is my goal. It is not hard, just assume age has taken it's toll on seals, carbs, shocks, brakes, etc and you will be fine. I am replacing things due to age not wear. Riding bikes is not only fun, it is food for the ego and nothing turns heads faster than an older bike. Enthusiasts will walk right past the dime a dozen new bikes to come pay homage to your venerable sled and worship at the altar of Auris.

Thanks for welcoming me in such a warm and poetic way :) I of course understand that a 31 year old machine needs some TLC. And like you, I do enjoy riding my Moto Guzzi immensely! I am still in the process of renewing it. I now has brand new tires, new brakes, all new liquids and a few other minor improvements. Recently the speedo drive got bent and the speedo stopped working, but I managed to bend it into it's proper position and now it works again, still need to put some grease on it :)

The Moto guzzi is poetry and melody.
Are you thinking to go whit your motorbike in circuit?

wellkom Auris .
Enjoy your trip to Spain .
