myself and a friend are planning a 2 month trip in Europe including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland. We are thinking of doing some camping and am wondering how much camping usually cost and are camping sites pretty numerous. We will be staying out of large cities for the most part.
 
I can only speak for France, but there, most small towns have a municipal camping ground. They are adequate but basic, no kids playgrounds, swimming pools or restaurants, but they usually cost just a few Euros a night. There are also many private camp sites which will have the full 5 star facilities, but they cost more like tens of euros a night.

Hi Brian
Thanks for the info. We would be looking for campgrounds with full facilities. Do you know of a publication that lists them?
