I had recently sold a car and figured I’d use some of the money to buy myself another bike. I went to my dealer here in San Diego with every intention of trying the MGX-21. I’ve got an Aprilia RSV4 and a Harley Street Bob and figured it’d be cool to have a cruiser/bagger.

Well- suffice it to say I walked out the owner of a brand new 2016 New old stock Audace. It’s been a few weeks and I’m literally riding it almost every day. I thought it’d stay in the garage except for long trips- but I find myself grabbing it almost every day. The bike is just really fun!

I’ve got Todd’s fueling and exhaust kit- and that should be great. The bike could certainly use some more grunt.

I’m pretty shocked at how well the thing handles for a big bike. I also have an H&H fairing on its way and I think I’m going to paint it red to match the red cylinder heads. It should look ok. Part of me really wants f to get a Russ Wernimont Design FXDR style fairing and figure out how to get it mounted to the frame- but the H&H should provide good protection for my first long trip. (I’m riding it from San Diego to Boulder to see my nephews.) I got the Orbit Sidecases today too- but they’re much smaller than I thought.
Anyone have any experience with them?

Anyway- I’m smitten. I love this bike so much I’ve decided that I’m not going to be building a Harley for next season’s Hooligan Flat Track series- I’m going to build a V7 flat track bike. Crazy but I just really love the character of these bikes.
Thanks for the warm welcome here. It’s great to finally have a Guzzi.

I felt the same when I bought my first MG back in 2017. The California Custom fit my need for a straight up touring bike, versus the Ducatis I have owned since 1992. I liked the Custom so much, I bought another one. Thought I would get a spare, only because they have stopped making this type of bike. I am sure you will appreciate your Audace the more you ride it.

At least you were *looking* for a bike when you went into the dealer. I was just passing mine when I pressed my nose against the glass and saw the Audace. 3 hours later it was mine.

Like you, I look for any excuse I can to take mine out and go the "long way round". Just clocked up 21000 Km in nearly 3 years, the most I've ever put on a single bike and certainly the most satisfying. I don't tour (much) mostly just day trips or a few hours snatched here and there. Gotta love those quiet hours between 7:30 and 9:30am on the weekends before all the traffic gets in the way. Enjoy !!!

I picked up my California Touring in October 2014. I was sold after the dealer tossed me the keys and told me to take the demo bike out for the afternoon. When I came back, I had a big smile on my face so he basically had me. So far, I've taken the bike through California, Arizona, Nevada, and southern Oregon. I know what you mean about the character of the bike and couldn't agree more!

If you do the long way round, come say hello here in Québec ☺

I would love to see some pics of your Audace with the H&H Faring, I think getting the wind under control is the only thing missing from mine, I've always had a large windshield or a faring but I don't want to ruin the looks of this awesome bike.
