Mysterious Fuel Leak?

If I let my 02 Calif. sit for a week or so without being started, when I just turn the key on and the fuel pump starts pressurizing, gas starts pouring from under the fuel tank some where. Looks like its coming from the fuel filter area. If I go ahead and fire it up for a min. or so and then let it sit until the next day, there is no fuel leak at all. I can go ride it all day without any leaks. As long as I start it every day all is good. Let it set for a week, and back to the fuel leak again.
Ive pulled the tank off and cant find any loose clamps or cracked lines. I replaced all the fuel lines on it a year ago. Thinking it may be a check valve somewhere that gums up after sitting for a week? I don't want to ride it to far away from home at this point for fear that it may start leaking while out on the road some where after shutting it down and then restarting it.

Any ideas on what it may be is appreciated.

Forgot to mention that I have tried removing the fuel cap and the leak still happens with it removed.

Most likely suspect to me would be the fuel pressure regulator that is attached to the bottom of the tank at the front. The fitting to put them on the tank is tricky, also there could be an internal problem with the regulator. I'm leaning toward an internal problem with the fuel pressure regulator because if it was the fitting to the tank it would probably always leak.

Thanks John.
Guess I will just gamble and buy a pressure regulator for it. It sucks that it wont leak for me when ever I lift the tank to pin point the exact place its leaking from.

See if you can get a mirror under there and confirm if it really is the regulator before you go to the expense of buying one. The parts breakdown shows multiple parts that make up the regulator assembly, plus the plastic washer that goes between the regulator and the tank.

Hi Rugar
Just wondered if you ever got to the bottom of the fuel leak you are describing here ?. I have exactly the same problem on my 02 Cali EV !.
Thanks
