Hello,

As I am trying to restore my 1997 1100i Sport to its original glory, I'd like to paint/powder coat engine and transmittion. I am thus looking for someone who would be willing to take the engine and gearbox apart for the job (meaning stripping of every part that can suffer from powder coating and its associated procedures - sand blasting and so). I had a quote for work only from an unnamed dealer for $1300 which was very reasonable (actually seemed a bit low) but I am a little reluctant now after I had them do another job and their discounted 40$/hr. promised rate turned into 70$/hr. rate. Any offer? I am in Los Angeles, CA.

Thanks

kecup

Something similar to original Centauro's color. The plastics just got back from tyhe painter silver/red so the engine must be darker to correspond to it.

For gearbox (and bevel box) rebuilds, 2 words: Zydeco Racing
http://www.zydecoracing.com

Or, you can be a complete idiot like me who tried to rebuild
and reshim the gearbox and couldn't get the cover back on!

Ditto. Charley Cole at Zydeco will do the job right and stand by it.
And if you're tearing it down, might as well rebuild.

I expect he'll say something to that effect.

Just where is this shop located? I hope it is on driving distance:) I could have that 5 gear box we sells right away - if only it would be charcoal instead of silver.
