Neutral hard to engage

Hi everyone, I have a 2013 Cali 1400 Touring with 15k km (~9.3k mi). The bike is running flawlessly except for one inconvenience: when the engine is warm shifting into neutral becomes quite hard, it takes several attempts. Also when the engine is warm the gear counter doesn't display the right gear when shifting from neutral to first (it jumps between displaying first and second gear).

At the start of this season I let my mechanic check the issue (he also did normal maintenance stuff) and he said he "adjusted" the clucth (I guess he meant the clutch pump and/or actuator), however the issue just slightly improved.

Has anyone of you had a similar issue? How did you solve it?

i have a V7 , but indeed it does seem to be a bit finicky about going into neutral.
sometimes just a little throttle does it , a pop of the rev, but just a tiny bit…
 
Considering it's got almost no mileage for it's age , maybe a few longer, harder rides might help
remove any accumulated crud in the clutch assembly ! Peter

This was likely not done at all. As mentioned dozens of times here (search is important), it’s imperative that it is done often. I do mine monthly.
I recommend flushing clutch and brake fluids completely if they haven’t recently been done.
 
Isn't flushing the brakes on the anti-lock system a bit much for your home mechanic ?
As long as you don't introduce any air into the system, it's a simple/normal bleed.

Is there any special technique for bleeding the clutch line? Or the old-school way of pumping-and-braking for the brakes works just fine for the clutch?

Also, where is the bleed port for for the clutch actuator? On the actuator itself?

I also get 2 displayed if I press a bit hard when putting it into 1st, it returns to 1 as soon as I release pressure on the gear lever.
 
Yes. Clutch adjustment will most certainly dramatically affect this condition. The V7/V85/V9’s are insanely sensitive to clutch free play as evidenced in tons of posts here.
 
My 2014 has over 30K miles and has been intermittently hard to put in neutral when warm. I've flushed the brakes a couple times and it's been the same all along. I found that letting out the clutch a little in first or second (carefully) and pulling it back in helps when I'm in that position but not always. Clutch adjustment is fine, considering how much "character" the gearbox has it seems like a minor issue to me.
