We are trying to re-commission a 2007 Nevada that has been laid up for about 9 months. Its never been used much and generally when used its just been used around town but up till 9 months ago was apparently reliable.

Our main problem is that the it only starts intermittently runs for a bit then on a bad day the EFi light sometimes comes on the bike then stops and now won't start at all. (Then after a day or so rest the engine will sometimes start again.)

It used to start after a bit, but now it wont even turn the engine over. All that happens is that after the ignition is turned on and the self checks are done once you press the start button the EFi light comes on the fuel pump works then the EFi light goes out and nothing else - the engine wont turn. Relays click that is it.

It has been running very very rich the plugs were all sooted up black and the Lambda probe was black sooted as well. We cleaned both (and following the link instructions on cleaning the probe). No change. We have a new battery and there have been some other wiring problems indicators not working but generally fixed now.

Even if the lambda probe is no good I presume the engine would still turn over?

Any suggestions anybody?

It's not the lambda probe alone. I had an intermittent problem with mine (verified by VDSTS that it was the Lambda probe) due to a dodgy connector that would light up the EFI light with no discernible effect on the engine operation.

I have had this mysterious stopping problem a couple of times, but it restarts after a few minutes, so I've never got to the bottom of it.

Only thing I can suggest is to carefully clean everything electrical and put fresh fuel in it if you haven't already.

Also check your main fuses. Mine got hot, melted the fuseholder and went open circuit/intermittent without even blowing.

Thanks mate!

Sort of what I was suspecting (no easy solution), but not being very familiar with the Nevada very good hear from someone with similar issues.

There is or has been an overheating problem at one time as a connector and wire going into it are a bit cooked. We've also had some issues with the fuses (one blew) and fuse block - seemed to be lose.

Cheers
