No, this would just be Oberdan having some fun... cheap, easy free global publishing must be hard for OEMs.

For what it's worth; my dealer told me Piaggio are making a 2 prong attack on the Adventure market, the Stelvio taking on the soft GS market and a new Caponord taking on the KTM/hard core segment.

I suppose the Pegasus and this "thing" would be in the 650/800GS/Transalp sector...if true, IMHO it looks like shite and will fail

New Caponord :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: When / where / how much :?: :?:

I just bought a Caponord a month ago. This is a great bike, fast, comfortable two up and cheap used!!! It's way undervalued and many owners love the thing although it's not without minor electrical faults, easily corrected for the most part.

Personally I think Piaggio should bring it back, lighter, fully adjustable and market the crap out of it!!! :p

He said next year, 2010, but that could mean 2011 model year

Check the Guzzi website and numerous other bike sites for the Milan-launched 3 prototypes.
Although some of the bike sites are confused as to which photo, description and name matches which bike, self-evidently:
The V12LM (Le Mans) is the Sportsbike (Red)
The V12 Strada is the naked, streetbike, Ducati Monster-like offering, with pillion (White)
The V12X is the supermoto (Silver/Green with black pipes)
There's some great design going on here and lots of optimism, from me at least, that the next generation of Guzzis is looking fab!

Everything you said is true......especailly the part about marketing the crap out of it.

I owned an 2002 put 60K on it before Aprilia did the fuel connector recall (plastic), it broke while traveling at 65 mph and me and the bike went up in flames, I did the stop, drop and roll and put the fire out on my Firstgear Overpants, the bike was toast. That bike was far superior to the BMW GS, but Aprilia / Piaggio does not know how to market bikes......and the dealer network........enough said.

I beg to differ a bit. The Caponord had a very enticing brochure back in 2006, it was maybe just not very well distributed. But it's what made me decide to get my license, those few pages somehow conveyed everything in biking that appeals to me. Didn't get the Capo in the end, as I got a bit worried it might prove too much as a beginners' bike.

kwn...

Wow... I thought you had a Capo but I had no idea the history! Yea, I saw there were some bad fires and I plan on doing the metal connectors this winter along with the brown connectors/white connector.

Must have been crazy actually catching yourself burning while traveling 65.

I paid $4099.00 for an 02 with only 1825 miles, leo vinci's, full color matched luggage, new tourances and brake pads and it cleaned up to near showroom condition so I can afford to do some improvments, electrics/fuel should be first! It really is a good bike overall but I bought it right so...

Stll a lot of interest in the bike and it doesn't ever seem to get magazine coverage anymore... still it would be cool if Aprilia brought it back... nice that the magazine guys are saying nice things about the ntx Stelvio now. Hope that continues and a Guzzi scrambler would be swell but not without a transverse twin powering it. A rebadge would be disappointing...

Aprilia has the spotlight with their new V4 right now... do they plan on moving forward with sales volumn? Hope we won't see two years of leftovers blown out at stupid-cheap prices cause they can't sell them. This hurts resale of owner's machines and de-values their own product line. They need to understand the dealer network is critical to the success of the marque...

The modern scrambler is a neat concept and if Guzzi wants to broaden its range why not. It reminds me of my wifes xcountry 650 a modern scrambler that is a blast to ride! Very capable on dirt roads and moderate trails and feels like a super motard on the street. Just plain fun!
