Carefull! This way you are throwing away the last 20 years of evolution of Japanese crotch rockets!
That's true, but Guzzi is not a Japanese company...

Yes, yes, yes...all very interesting (No not really). Instead of all this theoretical stuff about who's right and who's advice to believe, just ride the bloody things, check the oil and if it needs it put some in. That's how it works in the real world for those who ride the bikes and don't just talk about them!

Absolutely correct and thanks for the reality check.
At the end of the day, bikes are to be ridden and if it needs oil, just top it up.
I never used to be bothered about such things until I got into this internerd thing.
Sometimes I think life was better without it.
:(
Thankyou for the much needed virtual face slap

I know its been discussed ad nauseam, but here are a couple of links to a website with possibly some more tech info, and a few good pics, which can be 'zoomed' for great detail. Clearly shows the new aluminum (aluminium?) rims on the V7 Special. I kind of have my doubts that this 'new & improved' version will be coming to the States any time soon, the dealers would never be able to unload the current stock, at any price.

oh, almost forgot - a chrome metal tank for the Tart's handbag:

Does this bike have one single throttle body feeding the two cylinders? If so, I would think that would be the answer....

Anders, the Heron head is a good thing; more low - mid range torque. I guess it's not good for those red-line riders.

Gstallons, yea, they changed from duel throttle bodies (TB) to a single TB. They made up for that slight performance loss with changes to other areas. At least the bike will be easier to service.

You have a point, but I don't think their are all that many new SB in the US. Guzzi is much more carfull about the number of bikes they bring over now days. We may not get the new modles tell late in 12, but I'm sure they will be coming.

I don't mind the Heron heads and the sequential torque output, which may be one of reasons for me to stay put to my li'l Breva. Many seems to do, as they are limiting the power output. The torque output for the HH SBs are however not impressing for the size of the motor, in comparison to other, even smaller, 2-cyl motorcycle motors.

What I really would like to see are the real specs and tecs of the "new" SB, not pages of assuming and guessings.

What I would like to know if it will be possible to modify the present V7C airbox to the under the seat set up, and how much the metal tank will cost, to get rid of the plastic one :?: As I am happy with the power my present bike puts out :D

I would like to know this too. The additional fuel capacity would be nice.

Purely speculating: $1400.

Lots of discussion on the new bike is good to see.

Has anyone noticed that the new standard model looks like it comes standard equipped with the centerstand?

Kudo's to Mama Guzzi for listening to her customers if true!

Or is the EICMA show display of the standard model tarted up a bit?

Going by the photo, its a nice looking bike, but why no centerstand ?
Also, should the valve covers not be rotated 90 deg anticlockwise ? :?

Nice video of the New Motor's features - vid link.

Check out this slick promo vid I just found on the new motor! Nicely done.

Please tell me if the vid has already been posted. :pinch:

I think it is fun to compare MG's "new small block motor" to the colorless "hight tech" reality round the corner: http://www.ashonbikes.com/content/honda-nc700x-0 ... If only honda had a "beige" color for this bike....

It is funny how much different these two bikes are, given their "easy" and "economic" target group orientation.
It reminds the old story of NASA spending 10 million $ to develope a super ink pen to write in graviteless space and the USSR guys using plain old pencils to accomplish the same scopes...

Talking about new small-block models, what ever happened to this one?

Not quite a Baja 1000 winner, but interesting nonetheless...

You're really, really, trying to suck the fun out of guesstimating things aren't you? :D

I use to be the one putting out the light when leaving the room.

Certainly a fan of more horsepower and low oil consumption and easier cold starting, but the new motor does nothing for me. Way too generic looking. It's like today's automobile engines with the plastic cover over it. I wouldn't have bought my V7 Racer if it had the new engine.
