All,

Just wondering, since I bought my 2017 Special a couple weeks back, should I expect a warranty packet from Moto Guzzi Americas soon? Dealer had me sign a release that dealer does not provide warranty.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm confused about who does the warranty?
I probably would not have bought the bike from them.
It almost sounds like they got sued or threatened with a law suit over a warranty.

There is a "MG Dealer" in Florida that only sells but won't work on Guzzi's, oil changes only.
Full list price + freight + prep, no trade in's on a Guzzi, even another Guzzi.
At least that's the way it was about 5 years ago.

My dealer has already done warranty work: check engine light, tweak clutch settings, waiting for new sensor. So, I believe the deal is dealer is making it clear the warranty is owned by MG. And they told me stories of "discussions" with MG about hours allowed for other warranty work.

That's kind of where I was going, more of "Cover Your A$$".
I've heard that Piaggio is not the easiest to deal with so I can fully believe what they told you.

I haven't received anything from corporate MG/Piaggio, yet. But, I did receive the 2 year warranty booklet at time of purchase. On page 5, it states "While necessary maintenance or repairs may be performed by others, we recommend you use a Moto Guzzi Dealer." So, keep receipts. And, like new cars, dealers stress that "they" do not warranty the vehicle, only the manufacturer does. Although I did not sign anything like that.

The dealer will contact MG for authorization to do the warranty work, if authorized MG will reimburse the dealer for the cost of parts and labor. If the MG rejects the claim your on your own unless the dealer is willing to help you out with his "goodwill".

Several years ago a local multi-line dealer dropped MG when MG was not meeting there commitments to reimburse him the $40k in warranty cost accrued over time.
