Greetings All. Recently I have noticed a kinda slapping on left foot peg at various RPM's. Can't narrow it down as is seems infrequent. Checked valve clearance, new outer plugs, reset TPS and TB balanced. Going change oil soon. Bike runs and accels normal. Taking a trip in a couple weeks, Blue Ridge area + COG rally in N.C. Should I be concerened? Bike has little over 32,000 miles now.

Could be a loose side or centre stand bolt?
I occasionally go round the bike making sure bolts are tight, guzzi's have a habit of shaking things loose!
That would be my first point of call :)

Well I guess one mans slap could be anothers bad vibe. How would I check for bad uni-joint? That possibility truly is cause for concern for my 8 day trip coming up. I'll re-torque engine mounts, exhaust etc. A visual didn't show anything obvious lose.

Never experienced it myself, but I understood that a dud u/j would show up through vibes in the RH footrest first. If you are only feeling it on the left side, certainly check for stands fouling, or the exhausts.

My centre stands tap, tap, taps the underneath of my left side foot peg. Have a look there as mine has a little groove mark on the foot peg from all the tapping.

Lift up the rear end and turn the wheel slowly, if there are any tight spots  , you might be in a tight spot :eek:hmy:

Thanks for all the suggestions. Center stand was loose and taping exhaust. I looked for loose stuff with bike on centerstand. Silly me.

Just wanted to add an additional thanks to all. The great thing about this foroum is the no B.S. feedback on post and not making people feel like an idiot for posting something. Sometimes I'm a little intimadated to post because so many contributors are truly knowledible mechanics. I appreciate you folks sharing your insights. I enjoy doing my own maintenance and this site has been a great help. WHAT NO CLYMERS!! Love my Guzzi.

As has been said so many times here, there is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers.

I started out asking what others might well have thought rather silly questions, but always got sensible, and patient answers. A few years later, and thankfully I am now able to sometimes help others.
