Just got it firing!
You may have seen my previous post regarding the National Cycle Street Shield EX install on my 2022 V7 850 Special. While I was very happy with the overall fit and protection of that windshield, I was still interested in trying other windshields that may offer more wind coverage.
I have owned Slipstreamer products in the past and was particularly curious about the S08 Sport Shield model, which features brackets that attach to the headlamp bolts for a more solid fit. When I saw a new out-of-box S08 Sport Shield on eBay for a very good price I purchased it, and it arrived today.
Tonight I installed it (about 90 minutes) and was very pleased with the fit and appearance. As compared to the Street Shield EX it's about 2" higher and wider. The top brackets attach to the handlebars and the bottom brackets to the headlight bolts. Actually, the fit seems perfect, as seen in the photos. It is an extremely solid mount, as good as any factory windshield.
The test ride was very good. I am 5'10" and look slightly over the top of the shield. Wind coverage is improved compared to the Street Shield EX, and I was able to cruise at 75+mph in very reasonable comfort (I wear an open face helmet with no face shield). I can see that touring with this windshield will be no problem at all, and will make around town and longer rides much better.
Anyway, just sharing this information as neither the National Cycle or Slipstreamer web sites show any windshield coverage for the V7 850 Special, probably because this is a low volume bike and they haven't got around to testing it yet. However, I have purchased both of their products now and have proven them to be effective and also a very good fit.
