Did not do my full research and I am hoping someone knows the answer to my vin # question. My engine is stamped with E072317 no V. Is it a real lemans engine? It is a US bike that was restored. Are there any guzzi engines with just the E?

Not a VIN expert but my LM3 has the VE then a star then six numbers then another star. My Cal2 is the same way w/different preface.
I would think yours is a real one, factory mistake. They do make mistakes.

Just would like a educated answer. Can it be a real Lemans engine
You can only get a definitive answer from Moto Guzzi, or taking the heads off to see if it is a large valve engine. What size carbs are on the bike? I recommend you start by contacting the importer instead of taking the engine apart.

My genuine Le Mans 2 (bought new in Canada,by me) in fact has both the frame and
engine number starting with VE . Hope this helps. Peter

Thanks to all of you, I am trying to get in touch with the US importer and If that is a dead end I will pull one head. I love the bike either way. Just want to know for sure if it is a real Lemans. Will let the tread know when I get to the answer.

SEARCH FIRST BEFORE POSTING A NEW TOPIC! IT HAS MOST LIKELY ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED BEFORE. VIRTUALLY EVERY TOPIC HAS BEEN…

So, I have answered this type if question many times. The answer is always the same. It doesn’t change.

Step up to the plate with your money…

Pay for the information from the Moto Guzzi Factory Archives.
