Nikasil cylinders

Peter, I have no reason to correct you. I bought my LM2 in 1982, and that is what it was registered as. Frank (Franco)) Romanelli got away with that, and probably my dealer (Northern Cycle in Edmonton) too. Probably old unsold stock. Shortly after, the first LM3 showed up.
For a while I thought I had bought a new current model. Doesn't matter much today.

Too much , I bought my Le Mans2 in 1983 also from I believe the shop was called Elite cycles in Calgary ! At that time , in Canada
a motorcycle could be sold and registered as the year it was sold .That changed shortly afterwards and motorcycles had to have
an ID plate on the frame illustrating what year it was manufactured . I found out later that the Le Mans 3 model was already finished
production when I bought mine . I returned to Ottawa in the middle 80's and went to Franco's shop in Montreal numerous times . Got
along great with him , saw a few examples of people who didn't deal with him correctly , while standing there he ordered a customer
out of the store and arranged to get me everything I wanted without a deposit ! Almost 40 years and 1/2 million kilometers later I
still have it and ride it ( a lot) , just returned from Broken Arrow in Idaho a couple of weeks ago , 3300 kms round trip ! Peter

Great story, thanks Peter. That explains it nicely. My LM suffered from the line-boring issue, so it came apart every winter. I learned this years later (some fellow in Oregon knew how to fix it). My G5 was a model of reliability, and may still be around Calgary. It got me hooked real good, but I drifted away for over 15 years.

My 81-CX had iron bores and it also had a kilometer speedometer. Never checked the numbers but it probably was an 80 sold in 81.

That's because it used the 1000cc motor , not the hopped up 850 motor :). Peter
My CX motor is no longer stock as it has 36mm carbs, a hotter cam and a lightened flywheel. Never had the heads flowed as I didn’t want to spend the money but compared to my 76 LeMans with a P1 Raceco cam and stock flywheel the CX is as fast as the LeMans based on my ButtDyno.
