No spark from Sporti

Hello everyone, I have a '97 Sporti that's not generating a spark on either side. The bike was running fine 2 months ago but the last time I went to start it it turned over but wouldn't start. I assume it is something to do with the coils but it seems unlikely that both would fail simultaneously. Is there something else I should be looking at? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is it an injected sport or carb? Since both sides have no spark, it is doubtful that both failed at the same time. Most likely a component common to both.

It's an injection model. Has a PC II unit which I just removed but still no luck.

Check the phase sensor at the front of the engine. Should have a reading of about 680 ohms. If it isn't providing a signal to the ECU, then no spark. Also the relays on the sport are notorious for giving problems. So check the operation of the relays. There is a schematic for your bike in the downloads section. Also check for voltage at the coils with the key on. If no voltage it points to relay or ignition switch.

Many thanks John. I'll check the phase sensor and for voltage at the coils. I've already confirmed the relays are good.

Hey everyone, many thanks for the input. For the record and for future reference, it seems
corrosion in the connectors to the brain may have damaged the phase sensor thus killing
my spark. Based on Roy's advice, I checked it and couldn't get a read out of it. After installing
a new one the bike fired right up. Thanks again to everyone for the help.
