My Cali iii does not seem to have any spark I checked the fuses and it ran a short time on one cylinder then shut off not to fire again. I changed the headlight. I don't think I bumped anything but perhaps. Any ideas. I switched spark plugs.

Hard to tell via the internet. There should be a schematic for the bike in the downloads section. Until you get some voltage readings at the coils and other locations it is hard to say. Also let us know if the bike is EFI or not.

Have not had much time to look at it but I put some high grade plugs in it yesterday band I started and ran really sluggish. I had to keep it at about two thousand rpm and it did not want to rev freely and when it got warm it stalled. Wondering about timing. I do need to do some voltage tests as you said. May get a chance to do that tonight.

Did this come on suddenly or has performance been degrading?

Were the plugs you took out black & sooty?
If so then it is running rich.
If it has carbs check the choke & air filter.

What kind of "high grade" plugs did you put in, and why? There are very very few reasons to use any other than the standard spark plugs specified for the engine.

Bike ran great parked in garage due to a snow storm. Snow melted and streets were clear three weeks later would not start. Yes by the plugs it has been running a bit rich. Unlikely that it is flooded. I took the plugs out after a few trys to start it nothing wet. I wondered about the plugs because the last one of these no start issues I had was in a grain truck and the new plugs showed spark with a spark tester and would not fire under compression. Autolite plugs will never be in my shopping basket again. So I started by swapping the almost new plugs out of my other bike. Then the new ones came in I put NGK Iridium plugs in the sport they seemed to be a real improvement so I went back to the store and they had e3 diamond plugs so I picked those up and low in behold the Cali sort of ran for a while. No smoke I want to check the timing. To me it seems to be firing really late. It does to make sense how that could have changed but that is what I am thinking. Air filter was new nine thousand miles ago. Perhaps it is the other side I put fuel stabilizer in it. I should drain the tank and put a new can of fuel in it. Just thinking what could have changed sitting for three weeks.

If completely dead I would suspect the flywheel sensor, but since you get occasional spark, that is out. There is no adjustment for timing as it is controlled by that same sensor. The P8 injection manual does give the specifications for that sensor. continue to check what controls spark. Also the coils.

Does your distributor have a dome cap(Bosch) on it or is it flat across the top(Motoplat) or is it not there(Digiplex)? What year Cali w/carbs? If it is Digiplex there is a crank sensor by the timing inspection hole. It collects metal from clutch area and needs cleaning w/tune-up time happens. Bikes can fail if it's been a long time since service, makes no difference what you are doing.
