Gidday everyone

I have a 12/2006 Norge GTL that my wife and I use for touring around our great country so we generally have all 3 boxes full of luggage and wine and a little beer. As fellow Auzzies, you know the roads down under aren't always great on the back roads, so the bike is often bottoming out at the rear, I actually had a can of beer break open in the top box, bloody hell, not worried about the mess, but the loss of beer.
I have set the suspension as per the book, but with full preload on the rear.
I read the reports where GT offer solutions with new shocks but I am confused, In the recent past there have been several models of Penski shocks that have been offered for sale but the options have seemed to have changed over time. GT currently appear to have only one model mentioned in the 'new store' which is why I am my confused, (perhaps I am reading it wrong) what is best for me? and who should I talk to down under, who can help me determine this? Do I also need to upgrade the front suspension, if I do the rear?
I would appreciate any advise you can give.

Thanks for your help.

regards
Squardy

Hi Squardy, sorry for the confusion on the store. When you land on the Penske page, simply use the drop down menu for the other models & pricing (it's at the top top in red "For ALL Penske Monoshocks, see Options: above"; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/produc ... ay-16.html
The rear shock spring and valving are very poor, as are the front forks. I have several options available for the forks, but I highly recommend the full drop-in kit by Matris; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/produc ... ay-16.html (also see the drop down for pricing on rear shock options, i.e. Griso, I haven't revised the store for the Norge shock options there yet - and I can do a special deal on pricing on both fork spring kit and a rear shock) - or just springs alone will be of big help, see; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/catego ... nsion.html

Please feel free to contact me direct e-mail; Todd at GuzziTech.com

The Australian importer (JSG) were offering an upgrade rear spring a few years back - they may still stock them so that could be a relatively inexpensive starting point. I think it was rated at 10kg from memory.

Cheers

My solo set-up for the bellagio uses an 11kg Ohlins spring, I think you will need higher.

The rear spring on the Norge was uprated mid 07. This new spring should be available from the usual stealers.
It certainly helps from the bottoming out point of view, but whether it helps in any other way is for others to say.
It would certainly be the cheapest way.
