Norge windshield rattle

My Norge has developed a metallic rattle that seems to be coming from the windshield. It sounds like 2 wrenches rattling against each other. If I lower the shield it gets louder and more often. Once in town it was a loud enough clank that I looked on the ground to see if something had fallen off. It seems to have started this after I had the windshield motor replaced at the dealer but I have checked and everything appears to be tight. He has also been in there since for the headlight recall and saw nothing wrong. Any ideas?

Whle on the subject has anybody tried the Skidmarx windshield. I would not want mine any taller but I am thinking the extra width would be nice.

I have the same rattle, and yes it is the shield and or the plastic that surrounds the up and down mechanism. I bought a skidmarx shield and found it to be not as good as the original even though it is bigger and taller. Plus it is ugly. I cut mine down to about 1" bigger then the stock shield and it now works much better.

So it is not just me on the Skidmarx shield. I ordered one and saw how much taller it was and thought it was ugly. I was able to send it back no problem as they accidentally sent me an early model that the holes were so large for the rubber mounts that the rubbers fell through the holes. I was thinking of special ordering one 1" taller than stock but if the extra width does no good I'll pass. Thanks.

I guess the rattle is a "just live with it" item untill it bothers me enough I seriously look into how to make it stop.

I have read somewhere that someone used thin round felt washers that were placed in between the joints of the windshield raising mechanism, and that this fix cured the windshield rattle problem. I haven't done it on my Norge yet, so I can't confirm that this will work, but it sounds like it might.

Like most things on the Norge, the windshield raising mechanism works, but it and a few other things including the fairing, saddlebags and instrument panel could have been designed a little better so they work a little better. Just a few warts that you have to live with if you want to ride a not so popular brand, which for me is fine. If Guzzi built the end all be all bike then everyone would be ridding them and I would probably be riding something else, as I like not seeing another Guzzi everywhere I go.

I don't have a rattle in mine but I do have a skidmarx shield and I like it. Granted, it is not thr prettiest but i leave it down except when riding in heavy rain.
