I've been fortunate lately having equipment to commission throughout the province. Last week I had to head up the North Shore, a beautiful region of Quebec located along the northeastern portion of the Gulf of St-Lawrence. This region is basically built around big hydroelectric complexes, iron ore and aluminum production and the pioneering pulp & paper industry.
I checked the weather and caught a break all week with unseasonally warm and dry conditions, that's all I needed to avoid using the usual service truck.
First stop was Baie-Comeau, about 650 km from home, all along the St-Lawrence.
Taking the ferry across the Saguenay river, looking west
The cold fresh water from the Saguenay and the warmer brackish St-Lawrence stirs up a very rich stew for whales. There were several belugas near the coastline.
Looking east
Always room for a bike on the ferry
Coastline in Ragueneau near Baie-Comeau
Birds of a feather...
After Baie-Comeau, I had some business in Port-Cartier and had some cold rain for about 150 km's, but nearing the destination the weather broke and I was treated to a beautiful sunset.
This is Riviere-Franquelin
Riviere-Pentecote
The Pot O'Gold!
The next day I rode up to Sept-Iles (Seven Islands for you unwashed masses!) about 100 km's up the coast.
Sept-Iles coastline, all very nice sand with very cold water!
Sept-Iles
I rode home from Sept-iles on Friday, about 1000 km day. The Norge was fantastic throughout the ride. Pictures cannot show the beauty of this ride, I have been there several times but on the Norge every turn brings beatiful landscape and a smile.
Cheers
