Hello Folks,

Not trying to start an annoying oil debate, just a couple questions as I do not have a viscosity chart. I prefer dino oil and intend to use Castrol 20/50 motorcycle oil, any issues with that? It will be running in Florida heat. I like Lucas gear oils. What weight should be in the gear box and what in the differential? I have a 1985 T5. Are there better types of oil? I generally avoid synthetic in older rigs.

Thanks.

Along with what Scott said, I would recommend to use fully synthetic. It will stand up to heat much better than non synthetic.

I wouldn't be too concerned about using 20W50 vs 10W50 considering the average temps where you'll be riding. Peter

I'll get a good inventory of parts and lubricants when I get home and put the old sled back on the road. I have owned a bunch of Harley's and an Indian, but I sold them off due to lack of use and taking up space (I don't go to America but once a year). I could not part with the Guzzi. While it rarely got ridden, I treasured it. I'll give it a good going through. I suspect I'll have wiring issues with some of the switches, but wrenching is my main hobby so that will be fun. I'd like to get another Guzzi, an older bagger, but still open to a newer one. My T5 is in amazing condition, but perhaps not the most versatile bike in their line up.
