Has any one out there had any problems opening up the breathing and who has had 'Pinking' prior with standard fittings.

What I am thinking of is opening up the cat, gutting it, weld back up, and fit new can.

Absolutly sick of the pinking. it is a disgrace that no fix/acknowledged by Guzzi

Yes, Pete Roper said don't do it (open up the air box) without being able to change the FI mapping, because some Tasmanian bloke who is a tuning nut tried it and bad things happened when he put it on the dyno.

I have standard cat, straight thru home build end pipe ,but what cured the pinking for me was a combination of 1.Re-routing the engine breather to a seperate catch bottle and blanking the airbox connection and 2. Opening up the airbox intake to match the airfilter I.D. (I haven't removed the rubber inlet snorkel ) and she is running as sweet as a nut!!.
Hope this helps!
Cliff.

Hi Cliffy.....

...Opening up the airbox intake to match the airfilter I.D. (I haven't removed the rubber inlet snorkel )

How did you manage that while leaving the snorkel on ? Did you cut the front/top off ?

Thanks Mike.

How do the chaps with 'cross overs' get on?

Have they not ditched the cat.

Cheers Cliff.

Will try your alterations.

Mike, Just re-read your comment, did you mean air box or cat,

A red wine too many on my part tonight.

AIr box.

I have a crossover and Staintune pipe and it makes no difference to the running of the bike at all. No more power, no less pinking under load, just a nice throaty sound...

Racer X's PCV is really going to be the only complete answer to the fueling problem.
