Word has arrived from the Mandello cell of the Guzzi Good Guys International Network (GGGIN) that our worst fears regarding the factory are coming to pass.

It is shut down for two months for "remodeling," which according to today's reports appears to mean little more than that all production equipment is being moved to Pisa and Noale.

When it "reopens" in early 2009, all production workers will have to reapply for their jobs. The current word is that there will be no production jobs.

RIP Moto Guzzi.

 I don't know what to say except that I hope this is more of the same we've been hearing for the past 30+ years. I love Guzzi, the other crap gives me the creeps:S

I met with someone working at Piaggio R&D Monday, and he told me that it wasn't sure the factory would remain in Mandello, nor that Piaggio would keep it's earlier promise (beginning of November) that Guzzi would remain in Mandello.

What I didn't know, and what's curious, is that the Piaggio headquarters themselves are located in buildings where apparently they've been forever (Guzzi engines are now built there).

Sounds just like how the Italians work though, Ive been working with Agnati .Spa , Vimercate, for over 20 years, very much closed shop, family only, needs to know.

So... Since this is the TECHNICAL board:

"Large mass and volumes of atmospheric substances are being overly impinged upon by gravitational forces..............

I don't think you can trust anything you here from anybody...much like the government thieves in Washington! Piaggo probably doesn't even know what they will do until they do it!
