Three days late last and early this week were among the best riding fun ones I can recall. Great folks, sights, and — not inconsequentially — roads.

Guzzista local pal Travis came up to our place o-dark-early on a wet Friday that would get wetter. This following two days of heavy rain — 4 inches at that point; 5 by time it stopped, with that last inch falling on us nearly all the way to Pipestem.

We met loop-frame guru Charlie at a favorite breakfast place in Wardensville, http://kackaponrestaurant.com. About the only dry time was while we were eating!

Back on the road, we pretty much followed what planned, i.e., https://goo.gl/maps/oXspzmKK2B72, but “pretty much” is not irrelevant!

The pix tell most of the rest of the story, but — the old saw that “a picture is worth a thousand words” notwithstanding — photos simply cannot convey the joy of Guzzi’s, Guzzisti, grand roads, and the camaraderie that accompanies all of that.

Here they are, best viewed in “slideshow” and “full screen” modes.

Nice Write up. I have had a meal or 2 at Kirk's and stayed at Pipestem. I have never been to Brandon's though. You were once again in my favorite riding area. My brother wants me to head down there with him in a couple weeks. I have to wait to see what is happening.
I almost can't go down there without riding 39 through Goshen Gap though.
How did you save the Google Map?

    Howdy.

    Presume you mean this:

Took a screenshot of Google Map in terrain mode, then uploaded the (png) file to smugmug.

I have come to use the s/s function lots.

And, yes, grand riding that way, with the Goshen Gap at the top of most lists. Going to be crisp down there in a few weeks. Take electrics!

    Best,

    Bill

Ah, sorry I missed your point.

I may have been one of those "bunch of people, " too, as I recall a discussion of that and my own frustration with GM. I remain annoyed at some aspects of that mapping system, but some of my concerns have gone away. I know that the wizards didn't pay any attention to me, but there may have been enough complaints that GM restored some deleted features.

Be all of that as it may, what I did in this instance was to go to "menu" at upper left and select "share or embed map," then choose "short url."

Hasn't failed for me (yet), except that I have been unable to save in "terrain," which I prefer, as it seems always to default when "saved" to normal road view. That also doesn't always frame the map I really want, but c'est la vie, thus my use pf screen shot for that.

    Hope that helps.

    Very nice.
I supplied the rain cover for the Corbin seat on the Green Griso.

Usually go every year. The change in dates messed up the rally schedule. Hate to have missed it. Always love riding that area.
