Does anyone have a powdercoating place they recommend? I'm South of Boston, so something close by would be favorable. The work to be done is a chrome rack, to be prepped and powder coated black.

Joe

We get a fair number of parts powder coated, but the price for small lots is stupid, same with plating or heat treating. Try to find someone who is getting a bunch of stuff done and get yours in the mix. The set up and hassle for a few pieces seems to defeat the vlaue you would get, at least on the left coast

Only one I know there, who is a Guzzi guy BTW, is in Philly. PM me if you want his info.

Jon, the heads up is good to know. Powder coating is more durable, but I don't want my wallet to get wrung out over it.

X, thanks for the lead. I hope to find a shop in the Mass/RI area. Nothing like face to face dealing, eh?

Hi, I have used Central Conneticut Coatings in Hartford with great results. They also do ceramic coatings. their website with contact info is http://www.centralctcoatings.com/ . I'd suggest calling them, the owner is a really pleasant guy. He will also give you a tour of the place. Last time I was there he was coating vintage GP car frames. Always an interesting visit Some of your Harley coaters are farming it out to them anyway. Good luck, Lance

The only guy I know and use is in NH. The upside is, he is open on Saturdays which made things infinitely easier. I was able to pickup and run more stuff up on the weekends rather than taking days off from work or incurring huge shipping costs.

He did all my Ambassador pieces and did a great job for short money. The frame for example only cost me 275 which included sandblasting, gloss black with a clear coat over.

The name of the place is Good Hues in Derry. He's directly across the street from the Guzzi dealer Seacoast.

Thanks all. I was pointed to a guy close to me, a few towns over. Long Beach Custom Fabrication of Plymouth, MA. http://lbcustomfab.com/

I'll let you know how it works out. It appears to be a small operation, but they've been in business for a few years.

Hey Joe,

How did this end up turning out? I would like some items powder coated and possible some thing manufactured.

Thanks,
Jeff

Powder coating should be relatively inexpensive. Two racks, headlamp rim and shell plus two small wooden magazine holders. £20.( $30) That included the blasting. Postage to Luton in the UK may be expensive !
Don't go to the bike or car specialists. No need.
Cheers

Jeff, that was a couple of years ago, and I don't have his contact information anymore. Look at his information in the earlier post, further up the page. A Google search should come up with it.

Let me know if it doesn't.
