I have a new to me 2000 Jackal. I go over any kind of a bump and it sounds like something is hitting. Like the tire is hitting the fender. I don’t see any rub marks.
Any ideas?
New to this site and I hope this is posted correctly
Thanks !!!
Scott

If you can increase the pre-load. It is also possible the shocks are worn out and should be replaced. See the Store tab for options.

A 22 year old, factory suspension is a 22 year old factory suspension.

Fortunately for you, you stumbled into the back-yard of the most experienced rider and modifier of a Moto Guzzi Jackal in the world, Todd (GTM).

I believe Todd logged something like nearly 200,000 miles on his Jackal!

I would advocate you INVEST is some new quality shocks from GTM in the STORE tab.

I would also suggest you use the CONTACT feature and send Todd a message seeking advice and counsel.

You will be amazed at the difference!

Thanks @scottmastrocinque
Scott, welcome to the GT Forum and congrats on one of the most durable and rock solid Guzzis ever made.
As stated above, the shocks (while terrible from new) sound like they have likely expired. I have a few options on the STORE tab above.
Also, love to get your VIN# and related for the Registry thread here; https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/bb-tonti-registry-and-pic-thread.12601/

Hope to see you here posting often.
Can you recommend a pair on your store? I’m new to Moto Guzzi, thanks for all the help and patience.

I think you cannot go wrong with these. I have highlighted in bold the items I think are very attractive in this particulat product. Considering these are custom built to your specifications and choices, the 2 year warranty, and the fact that they are completely rebuildable instead of throw away when worn, at less than $500 for the pair is a damn good price!

GTM 2WS TWIN SHOCKS

GTM is now partnered with the Shock Factory. CNC construction, and built-to-order for your weight at a very affordable cost. Length options, shorter or longer available at no additional charge. How to YouTube video on lowering your V7 on our GTM channel HERE. Silver aluminum, or all black (springs in black only - unless custom coated - inquire). For a long list of Guzzi fitment; From early '80s small blocks to new V7 III & V9, and most all big block Tontis, circa 1971 to 2012 California 1100, and 2014+ California 1400. Please note. We have discovered that V7 I/II when fitted with a Givi rack cannot be fitted with these shocks. Givi runs rack tube behind the top of the shock which must pass right next to the OEM shock. As the top of the shock is larger than the steel OEM top, there's not room for both.Purchase and we will be in touch for your info. 20% restock fee if order is cancelled once shipped from the manufacturer. THESE ARE BUILT TO ORDER ONLY - AND CURRENTLY RUNNING 4~6 on PAID ORDER.

Features:

  • All CNC machined body and parts which are then clear or black anodized for good looks that last.
  • Easy to set spring preload.
  • The single adjuster provides a wide choice of vari-damping by controlling both compression and rebound with 14 clicks of adjustment.
  • Fully rebuildable.
  • Two year unlimited mileage warranty.

Thanks to Scott for above. You options are pretty limited unless you want to spend a considerable amount of money. Our GTM offerings are a very very good value.

I have to agree with Scott, I got my GTM GWS Twin Shocks two weeks ago. Not installed yet (that happens the middle of April), but the build quality is beautiful. I have complete faith in them, as I have complete faith in Todd.
