Removing the left mid side panel on an 07 Norge

Well, the left mid-fairing finally gave way and i'm going to have to replace it.

Have the dash, wind shield, and inner fairing off. The bike was converted to the Sport 1200 chin fairing earlier, so those lowers are not an issue.

Do I need to pull the head light fairing to get to that front screw on the side fairing or is it just a matter of being a contortionist?

I don't own a Norge any more, but I remember I had to dismantle everything to get to the area I wanted to be.

They were not easy to work on.
 
Somewhat confused -- a not unusual state for me! :giggle: -- WRT what you mean by "left mid-fairing."

Is that the one below the turn signal?

I think I have an "extra" one of those. Will check.

Be that as it may, I have had all the tupperware off at least twice and think the answer for that one is door B, i.e., contortion (and cursing :swear:) does it.

The parts book calls it the Left Hand Lateral Fairing - the one that has the plug to pull out the dip stick.

I suspect I'll end up pulling the headlight fairing to get to the front most bolt.

This stuff alone could convince me to get a non-faired bike. I'm currently reinforcing all the mounting tabs with fiber glass on a new un-painted panel. But, if you have a spare, I'd be most interested.

I will admit to being concerned about the continued availability of the plastic going forward. The last of the 1st gen Norges are getting close to 10 years old. Don't know how much longer Italy will be producing those parts.

Ditto re concerns over tupperware "down the road," but what a grand machine in the meantime.

And, apologies for a postponed response to your inquiry, but packing Griso for a run to Kentucky (where mutton calls! :giggle:). Leaving later today so may not have time to check panel.

I did a beardectomy on my '07 "1200" and I think it looks better.

Definitely makes checking & changing the oil a little less annoying. The surviving lower left fairing can be loosened (and deflected) enough to give clearance to pull the stick and add more oil as needed.

As the plastic continues to age and degrade, eventually all that will remain of the original is something resembling an old Vetter Windjammer...

Have to admit, from the point of maintenance, the design of that fairing is a triumph of form over function. Had a Spada III before, and that fairing was relatively easy to work round.
 
Add the chin fairing off of the B11 to help protect the sump. ~$20/side from your local dealer or I can offer them on the online Store as well.
