That's a good idea, thanks my brother suggested shrink wrap, a similar idea. It would be great if I could tie down a small duffel on top of each saddlebag without damaging themI placed a clear piece of chip guard on the lids of mine to prevent the lady friend from grazing them while getting on. Now her hips are bad and she can't get on. However you have to look to see the guard. I got 3 pieces at the local Ford dealer. I think they were 6x12" but I am not sure. A heat gun and I can remove them with no marks. I leave them on as I have been known to graze them.
Thanks for that infoYou might want to check this guy out. He sells larger sheets. He has made custom protective clear knee protectors for my 1100 Breva tank. You should be able to use the same material for your saddlebags. http://www.jmhmotorsport.com/
Does anyone make a rack like this for our touring, to keep the bags from being damaged ?View attachment 8660
Thanks, I saw racks on a new indian , the bags on it had a similar curve, price was appr. $300 mucho denero to tie stuff down, but they looked really nice. Just thought I'd see if anyone else had tried something. I may try to arrange some straps but I want to think about it. Thanks also for the ideas about the clear chip guard above because that would probably have to be includedYou might be able to use the rack in your picture as long as the curve on the top of the MG hardbag is similar. Yamaha also sells an accessory chrome bar for the Royal Star Venture that may work as well.
