Since the Petition to Piaggio thread has been locked (why? And on a negative note??), here's a bit of a sequel with hopefully some good news:

from the 20090225 ACEM newsletter
Piaggio obtains € 150 million from EIB. Piaggio & C. S.p.A. signed a loan agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB ) for € 150 million. The credit was granted on the basis of an investement plan in R&D that the Piaggio Group will develop over the 2009-2012 period. The EIB. loan will enable Piaggio Group not only to increase investment in research and development - with the goal of offering innovative, eco-friendly, safer and more fuel efficient vehicles - but also to further strengthen the financial structure of the Group, thanks to the competitive conditions of the financing.

Let's hope some of that money goes to Guzzi!

I locked it because I thought it was a closed/done deal. can unlock if you see the need.

Good news on your post, appreciate the info here.

Trying to imagine what one could do with 12 M€ ... (seems a bit too much for a 2 month factory renovation).

In fact ... the other part of the same newsletter was on topics related to the "sales arguments" with which that loan was secured:

* evolution towards Euro 5/6
* generalisation of advanced braking systems, which don't necessarily mean ABS, but more something like linked brakes.

So... would 12M€ be enough to
• adapt a water-cooled Aprilia/Rotax Vtwin to the Guzzi frames ... with which Euro 5/6 homologation will come automatically when time comes
• re-invent the linked brakes of old

?

:silly:
