Hello,

Ive noticed a marked degradation in site performance in the last couple of days.
just now clicking from One thread back to Forums took 20 seconds…

im goins to run some tests to validate my connnection to others sites and I’ll send you some information via mail, if it’s just your site..

don

I had some issues last night. This morning I had a strange pop up that stated there was a problem. Just now it is slow to post. Closed the dialog and everything was OK.

I have experienced the same issue on my 3 home iMacs and my 2 workshop iMacs. I think the server needs a clean reboot is all. No computer these days is designed to run continuously for days and days on end. Things get messy in the memory management. sick reboot usually sets everything right as rain again.

Sorry - but that being my line of work - is the wrong Attitude.
1: IF the operating system - Windows/ MAC O/S, UNIX’s isn’t Broken the machine can run for Years…
2: IF the other software running on that machine, doesn’t have any bugs , you won’t have to restart the software.

But Windows is Broken…so the answers is Always - Reboot vs. get what’s broken fixed..
I have mostly stayed away from most Apple products , so I can’t voice any informed opinions Other than Apple UNIX was a step in the right direction but they scared all the Apple people and had to Hide it away…

2: Software is the tower of Babel built on spongles ( crap ) so it’s gonna have issues ;(

I’ve got customers with UNIX / Linux machines that have been running for years !

Thanks Don. I had my site guy here go through everything this morning. His words... "I made a few changes in the servers for optimization of php and MySQL. Let me know if we are still having any loading issues."

They are designed to run non-stop if it's actual server hardware, running a server operating system. Our servers here at work run 24/7, 365 for years on end. We have a few that have been running 10 plus years without a reboot. But you have to have "real" server equipment to do that. $50,000 just gets you the basic hardware, fully kitted out your talking $100,000 plus.
