Hello folks,

it has been a while with issues on my 2013 California 1400 Touring. Miles almost 20k, noticed red light alarm stays on plus the service message. Bike starts fine, runs good, breaks good, tested battery voltage before starting and after, cleaned the 30 and 40 amp fuses (they needed contact cleaning). ABS lights shut off as they should. At a loss here, checked battery terminal as well. No funny sounds or hick ups. Suggestions?

These days you need a diag software set-up to see whats wrong. That is how it's designed.
Hello Steve I have been looking trying to find your motorcycle to so say I like the older Moto Guzzis is a understatement. If there is any way you could show a picture of your motorcycle ? I would greatly appreciate that. And while I have you what are your thoughts on the Moto Guzzi Convert I love these motorcycles. What got me started with Moto Guzzi is my friend bought his in 1974 a Eldorador and he talks about this all the time and after that I had to have a MotoGuzzi .And I love it. Thank You Scott Williams.

My 67 daily rider, nothing pretty like most, but it hauls(what I like) very loud too. I have a 68 & 69 all apart. My newest is a 98EV. I like analog. I worked on a lot of Converts, they are like no other bike. I had to learn all the new to keep working. I retired, not working on much new & don't want to keep up. Nothing new interests me, got what I like.

Update, since the bike is running and breaking fine, I thought of the usual sensor and switch issues that are a problem across all Guzzis. Checked the micro switches...my clutch micro switch hasn't made any sounds when using the clutch lever. Switch no longer switches, no spring tension, or movable tap that gets actuated by the lever. Looks this could be it....keep you posted!

I think that is beautiful!

I solved it by replacing my micro clutch switch under the clutch handle. The switch didn't have any spring tension left and the plunger was stuck. The switch is linked to your bike's electronics and was flagged as a 'service item" in the bikes service / alarm display / speedometer. I replaced it with an 'Amazon' bought general version "Burgess" actuator V4LS microswitch, which looks like the Guzzi original "Burgess" replacement part, minus the three prong cable connector. Combined the new switch with the old 3 prong connector, installed it, reset the maintenance 'Service' with the '34534 code'. The 'service' message and red alarm light is 'OFF' and bike runs like it should. $ damage with cable connector about $ 9 US vs $80 to $90 US for he Guzzi part and about 30+ days delivery time. Here you have it, lesson learned and problem solved. Cheers and ride on!

I had an electrical experience (alternator) with my 2018 Eldorado . On the box when it arrived at the dealer was the retail price,
slightly over $1000.00 , with the dealer cost listed as slightly over $600.00 . The ebay price of the exact (chinese made) alternator
$200.00 . Kinda hard to believe the mark up , especially when they must get some kind of bulk purchase reduction ! Peter

If people would get over their never-ending propensity to sue manufacturers of vehicles, then costs would be significantly less.

Unfortunately, this is what drives that type of markup. Legal fees and reserves for manufacturers are staggering.
