OY - I DID NOT REALLY START THIS THREAD - I just asked a question !

How do you find the seat pad/fur thing - have you always used it or can you compare before / after ?
A friend of mine uses a sheep skin ( or something ) - he doesn’t ride without it...

The sheepskin makes a difference for me. I've had one since last century when I was doing inappropriate distances on big trail bikes. As road bikes seem to have now followed the trend that seats should double up as ironing boards I would certainly want proof the seat was better before not using one. 50 miles dealer to home was enough on the plain seat . I also wear cycling shorts with gel inserts under my riding gear.

They make a significant difference, not just in comfort in regards to pressure, but in temperature control in the nether regions as well. I wear mine on any ride longer than an hour.

A couple of guys at the Enfield 650 forum rave about gel padded bicycle shorts. I tried three different brands and they were just terrible. I felt like I'd left a load in my drawers.......I'll spring for a better seat any day.

Yikes !!!!!! talk about "thread drift".

I cannot even begin to imagine me trying to get into a pair of “biking shorts”.

It would be the most ridiculous thing to behold…:D  :lipssealed:

I love humor and jokes! No worries.

Oh the thought...the horror of it all! (Although I'm old and fat, I am definitely NOT this big though! LOL)

I wear some simple spandex shorts under whatever riding pants I have on. I have a hard time with the cycling shorts which have the diaper in the crotch, even when I'm riding my road bike.

The new Comfort Seat I got for my V85 is better than the stocker was, at the moment I don't feel the need for any else on it.

I've tried several different options to improve long distance. For me there's still nothing better than a sheep skin cover. I've never tried the bike shorts idea, But I couldn't risk anyone seeing me trying to get them on, or off.

I cycle a lot and have lots of spandex shorts, I can't imagine what use they would be on any motorcycle I've ever owned. Seems like the padding is just in the wrong place. The job of a motorcycle seat and a bicycle saddle are completely different.

The padding in bicycle shorts is mostly for moisture control, friction reduction and protecting the nerves in the perineum. I don't think any of that applies to riding a motorcycle.

Corbin = Comfort I used to ride 45 minutes or so until discomfort started. I have done some 8 hour days with the Corbin seat and with regular route choice/gas breaks, no pain at all.
Yes, it does take time to break them in but then aaaahhhh!

I use a sheep skin on the Stelvio and wear LDcomfort shorts under whatever gear I am using. It's OK for a couple hours but then butt disease set in. Next month I take it to Russell for a custom seat. It will be number 13 for me from them.

I tried everything from gel pads to air cushions and padded under wear on my stelvio , but the best thing ever is my black sheepskin its fantastic !!
It even has a zip at the back which you can add extra padding if you want too.
