Just got it firing!
I had a bad day while working on my 2005 Nevada 750 and accidentally shorted the battery cable while removing a defective starter. Many sparks but managed to avoid losing a finger or burning up the bike. After finishing the starter replacement (which went well after I disconnected the battery - my stupid mistake) I noticed a significant change in the way the bike runs. I’ve got lots of wheezing at low rpm’s, poor acceleration and a general feeling that the motor is not working like it did before the arcing incident. The bike starts, idles and run, just no zip. Vibrations are now more noticeable too.
I haven’t found any blown fuses yet, and am not getting any indications from the instrument panel that there is a problem.
I know this is only a little info to work with, but if anyone has any suggestions as to how to go about narrowing down the possibilities I would appreciate. Naturally my mind goes to the worst possible cause - damaged electrical component(s). Which could include the ECU ($$). Thanks all. And happy motoring.
