<<game show buzzer sound>>

we were all wrong. appears to be a cam pin/bolt? that came loose/improperly inserted during the cam recall that the previous dealership supposedly did. ended up bending one of the valves ever so slightly so they're replacing the valve and checking the remaining valves in both cylinders.

I was going to say that.

Sorry to hear about that on a new machine, but glad to hear it wasn't a factory screw up.

That's horrible Obie! How frustrating. That's the second case of this. Do keep us posted on the timeline to get you going again. Look forward to seeing it/you then.

Don't want to influence your choice but ........you do know the Red one is faster right?
Cheers

Gotta agree with the Dan man here. Not that I am biased in any way... :D
Whichever way you go, go Stelvio! Congratulations, you will love the ride.

I agree; very sorry about the inauspicious beginning to your Stelvio experience, but it sounds like your dealer is doing an excellent job of taking care of you. Once you have it all sorted out, it should be great.

When my line swelled up in the tank at the fitting it was letting some fuel get to the TB's but only enough to run really like crap, one cylinder miss type crap. Since the repair (it happened within the 1st 500 miles on the bike) it has been fine until the plug caps went 8K later.

I stand corrected. I guess I was just having chilling flashbacks to the two times mine did it, both times on highways with complete and instant engine silence. Not the best of times.

Mine (the faster Red model) had one cam gear advanced 2 teeth by the selling dealer during the recall. Ran ok below about 6500 RPM, and took me 12,000 mi to dig far enough to find the problem. I'd put on the NGK caps anyway, too many people have had problems.
Welcome, I think you'll love the bike after you get all the odd and ends sorted out.

Yup, lad I met at the National had the same thing happen to his, same bloke I think Todd. Used to post here? Maybe still does. Worries me a bit. I've done several cam replacements now and I don;t see how you can screw it up really?

Huge Kudos

Update: My dealer (Pro Italia) called today to tell me that my motorcycle was going to be ready for pick up either today or tomorrow. No, not the one I purchased, but another new one in the same color, same everything. Yes, you read that correctly, that's just the type of dealership they are, and the type of Principal that Bill Nation is. I've done a great deal of business with them over the years (first purchase back in 1992), and that probably comes with its merits. As for the new, new bike, Pro Italia handled the recalls themselves which is most definitely comforting. I'll get the NGK caps installed once they arrive in the mail.

Cheers!
