Hi everybody and thank you for any responses I get. My speedo is way off, reading 78 at a true 70. I have a '07 Cal Vin . Any way I can adjust it myself, there is a radar readout nearby on the freeway to check my adjustments if possible. Otherwise I will take it in to a local shop. Thanks, Mike

Basically no. Not without taking the speedometer apart which pretty much will destroy the unit. Then again a very complicated device could be made using a gear reduction system at the back of the speedometer to slow the shaft into the unit, but the time and expense is up to you.

Best thing to do is realize you have about a 10% error and just do the math when going down the road.

From what I have read on this and other forums, that is not unusual. My 2001 Stone also reads 10% fast.

Somebody even suggested that the factory set them fast to avoid bring sued, if a customer received a speeding fine, because their speedometer was under reading!

Many sat navs also incorporate a fairly accurate speedometer too.

Mike, that ITI speedo will die soon enough, and is NLA in MPH now (but still available in KPH). There’s a handful of phone apps that are quite good as a spot check, and I’d start looking now at a GPS replacement unit if you plan on keeping the bike. There’s been a few threads on them here already.

I checked the error on my V7III Racer speedo after I changed tires by putting my Garmin Edge 25 bicycle GPS computer on the bar temporarily. The Racer speedo is well within acceptable tolerance (reads on the money at 40 mph, a little high at 70 mph), so I put the Garmin back on the bicycle.

The Racer speed is FAR more accurate than any speedo I had on my older motorcycles. :D

Is this with the new wheels and tires or stock?

It was after I changed tires, so yes: new wheels and tires. I should have checked it with the stock setup to see what the difference is, but ... I forgot. :D
