A stone thrown by an oncoming truck completely smashed my headlight - part no. GU01740500.
They are no longer available from MG, Stein-Dinse or other parts suppliers.
Does anyone out there know if there is any way around this? If I can't find a used one does anyone have any ideas about a suitable substitute?
I have seen images of a modified headlight and fairing for Sport 1100 so perhaps this is an option - but an expensive one I would guess.
Does anyone know if there are people who make up polycarbonate lenses to order?
I would really appreciate any advice.
Bill

Long shot, but I think the '91-92 Yamaha FZR 600 or '91-93 Yamaha FZR 1000 headlight might be a swap. Works for the Quota, and it looks similar.

Thanks very much Todd. I will check this out. I had looked at the Quota headlight as it looked quite similar. I will try and get hold of one and see how it fits.
Thanks for the prompt response.
Bill:)

Sometimes you can find a number that's worth googling molded into the back of the light

They are indeed made from unobtanium! If you have one, you are lucky.

Just throwing is out there (apart form the Yammahahahaha solution already mentioned, would be to modify or get a new surround/fairing and modify if to suit a round sealed beam or similar. I know it doesn't meet the original asthetics, but, it's a way forward that may not be original, but it is practical. Probably some bits of a later Le Mans might do this pretty easily.

Just putting it out there, as a ride is a ride. Keep the original bits in a safe place in case someone decides to do a special run of these headlights

Thanks Oz 1220 Guzzi.
That is what I may have to do. I could probably use a single headlight like a V11 Lemans and have someone modify the fairing to suit. It would look pretty good. In the meantime I will put some clear contact over the whole thing so I can keep riding.
Regards,
Bill

I don’t know of any, but let me try one last time here... DO NOT USE A QUOTA HEADLIGHT... “THEY ARE TERRIBLE” FROM ANYONE WHO HAS EVER OWNED ONE. Unless you are just looking for thre glass, and then I’ll refer you back to my posts above.

Thanks GT-Rx yes just looking for the glass but if the Yammy option fits I will use that. I will track one down and measure the headlight.
