Just got it firing!
All, I had this seal replaced under warranty at 3k miles it has failed again at 33k, This is a 1k$ repair. I am very motivated to do this myself any thoughts?

Yes I good idea and I will take this advice. Any thoughts on the easiest procedure to drop this engine? It is much easier with a few special tools that will cost much less than the labor charge you quote. At 33,000 miles I would be tempted to put in a new clutch plate even though it should be good for many more miles, and also replace all the seals in the gear box while it is accessible. I'd also make a close inspection of the crank and all around to see what may have caused the rear main to fail.
Well it seems like I had the lucky Guzzi. To tell the truth when I dropped it off at the dealer I wanted the bike replaced with another. Since the seal failed at 3k miles I was fearful (and it has) it would fail again at 33k. Moto Guzzi refused and very grudgingly warrantied the repair. The dealer (great guys) provided a loaner to ride home...and you might not believe this but the loaner Stelvio 2010 seal failed on the way home coating the rear tire! What luck! The dealer sent a truck to pick up the bike! I have purchased 4 Guzzis from this dealer ( no complaint with them) but I am totally unhappy with Moto Guzzi support of the product the manufacture. This is not a common problem on '12+ Stelvios. Let us know if it's the crank oil seal or paper flange gasket. I would replace every seal, gasket and o-ring while it's apart.
