Recall #: 2013256

Models Involved: 2012-2013 Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX, Norge, Griso

Number of Vehicles: 107

Problem: On certain motorcycles, the rear suspension double connecting rod may have been manufactured incorrectly and could fail.

Correction: Dealers will replace the double connecting rod.

I have got some e-mails out in order to find the serial numbers to which this recall applies and I will post same when (or if) I receive them,

I spoke to Piaggio's Moto Guzzi customer support rep at 877-696-6864 and she told me that the recall on my bike, serial number ending in 2170, is wiring harness and centre stand. If you choose to call them direct, be sure that you have your complete 17-digit VIN number handy for her.

So, I am informed by my dealer that the recall does not apply to me, although I do have to have an adjustment to the wiring harness to eliminate the possibility of chafing. Good news, I guess, since I've put another 2500 km on the bike.

I have already remarked that the only upgrade that applied to me was a piece of protective plastic applied to the frame gusset on the right side under the tank. This is to prevent the wiring harness from chafing. While awaiting the repair, I noticed a 34 page (English and French) explanation of various upgrades that are required on certain individual Stelvio motorcycles with diagrams, instructions, and most importantly, a list of serial numbers. This was on the service manager's computer, and somehow it ended up in my e-mail inbox. I have this information should anyone wish to see it. You can message me and I will e-mail it to you. My e-mail address is [email protected]

howdy dudie huppy - just got the suspension recall in the mail - the letter did isolate any series of serial numbers and just listed the models involved. May try to have mine sent up and I'll put it on myself.

Heard from a mechanic in the UK who has done several of these, that there is a possibility of the suspension unit hitting the dog leg on full compression. The difference between a faulty unit and the replacement is hard to see unless you have each side by side on a bench.

Hi bels482,

I also have a 2013 Stelvio but I am very curious if it is part of the VIN# range.
It's been two years but if you still have that email I'd appreciate a copy.
The motorcycle is new to me this year and purchased as a non-current.
Just curious if this mod has already been made.

Let me know about the email,

Thanks,

Paolo
