Stelvio: Brief first ride impression (FINALLY!!!)

Well. the roads finally cleaned up enough for a maiden voyage on the Stelvio the other day. Put about 60 miles on. Initial impression, I guess, with a tight engine, and responsible break-in procedure, I can't say I notice a huge difference in power from my well-broken in Norge, but I'm sure that will be different when I'm really able to give it a romp.

I have rather long legs, but still think I'll give the seat a try in the lower position next ride. Ride height and handling similar to the Quota, but not as cushy suspension, though I haven't tinkered with settings yet. I did notice that there's a frame extension right where I'd like my heel to be on the right side when ball of foot is on the peg, mildy inconvenient, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. (My right ankle turns out slightly, so things interfere with the right heel somewhat more than the left. I might tweak peg position or something if I decide I just don't like it.) There's a bit of popping on decell with the Mistral can, maybe map version #two will take it out, otherwise I'll do the same trick on this that I did on the Norge to trick the computer into richening the mixture a bit at the bottom end of the range.
Anyway, sorry for the rather skimpy report, but there's only so much you can learn about a new machine in the first 60 miles.

Well John, Glad you managed to get out on the Stelvio, I've managed to clock up a meagre 150 miles, I have 32 inch inside leg and I've found the lowest seat setting to be the one for me, also the windscreen is on the middle setting, I'm 6ft tall so as to give you some idea.
I also noticed the footrests extension, gets in the way slightly, I ride slightly duck footed, but use my instep on the peg, so it's not so bad!!only thing is I may wear the paint off with my heel, so I'll get some of that plastic film to stick on in that area,
I also tend to sit well forward on the seat and find it really comfortable,
I'm very pleased with the engine, very flexible and smooth, not sure if I've been in top yet:unsure: B) I'm sold on the pirelli tyres and they haven't really been run in yet, they've given me loads of confidence in this spell of bad weather (around freezing)
My suspension is still at the factory settings,I've not bothered to adjust it, and it seems fine , it may get tweaked when i'm more used to the bike,
Also like the brakes, bags of feel, and the lever adjusters brilliant, this is my first Guzzi , so i'm not used to being able to adjust for reach:eek:hmy:
