Hello all-thanks for having me!

I am about to commit to buy a Stelvio (despite the panning review in this months Bike magazine-ouch!).

Question for your comments-is it worth paying more for an identical looking standard 09 over an unused 08 model?

Then same dealer says you cannot tell the date of manufacture from the VIN number-is that true?

Last one-would you buy something else if you had the choice?

Thanks all:unsure:

Not seen this months UK bike mag, (owned by BMW subsidery), but dont generally take notice of them as they only test race reps.
08/09 model? unless it's the TT there aint no difference.
Why worry about vin numbers ?
Would I buy different? GS Adventure just for the 33 litre tank.

Stelvio is awesome kit, test drive and buy.

Would I buy another one - probably yes even though mine has been back to the dealer 3 times; fogged-up speedo, starter switch stuck in and burnt out all the fuses and the starter motor and the headlights were wired up wrong.

Dont like the 'on-off' effect but thats typical of a twin with the EU CO2 rules but apart from that its different and never seen another on the road yet - but is that saying something?

Is it worth the extra for a GS. No - they have had similar teething problems also in particular with the EMS.

The frame number will give the year of manufacture.
Assume you have a number
ZGULPH010YMxxxxxx

ZGU is the manufacturer's ident code
LP is the model type
H01 is the model variation
0 is a free digit
Y the number here gives the year of manufacture, ie 7 would mean 2007.
M means made in Mandello
xxxxxx is the serial number
