Hey Guys ,
This evening i decided to revive my Stelvio , I hadnt run it on the Road since Pre Covid , i did however start it , and let it idle for 10Mins occasionally.
So , this evening , i connected the Battery , positive first . then the negative , turned the ign Switch on , then hit the Start.
She just blanked out . Nothing . I noticed the positive terminal to be hot , i have a smart jump pack , which i though would sort it
but its telling me that i have a short Circuit .
Checked the Fuses beside the Battery ,and under the side panel cover all ok.
Fuses up front of dash all fine to .

? What have i done !!!

Steve is correct. You have dead cells in your battery.

Take it out and to any major auto parts store. They will almost all LOAD TEST it for free of which Steve and I are positive that it will fail.

I’ll add my “yeah” to that also. That’s been my experience with my Stelvio, now on its third battery in 70000 kms as well as using the correct smart charger

Thanks Guys ,

I took the Battery out and Just connected the Jump Pack , nothing happened then either .

?

I have a jump pack, but I've never tried to use it to supply all the starting current at once, just as a booster for a low battery. It may not have the capacity for what you're doing.

Known good battery is next ....

You say the positive terminal got hot. Too hot to touch? If it got hot quickly, that would be indicative of a short circuit with high current flow. In that case, I would look for insulation damage on the positive cable going to the starter relay (maybe mice chewing on the wires) before connecting a new battery.

The hot terminal was possibly caused by a bad/loose connection on the +ve. Hopefully when "The Civil One" replaces his battery he will terminate it correctly, with the appropriate grease. Replace the fuel too, that doesn't last forever
