Stelvio NTX Bar Risers

Thanks for the info but......

I am a bit worried about removing the flange-head screws on the stock risers. I have read nightmare stories about folks rounding of the screws while trying to remove them. Evidently they are torqued down ridiculously tight from the factory and there isn't much hex head to grip with a socket. Did you have any issues? I would like to install the new risers this weekend.

I remember them being tight but not too tight. The secret is removing the triple tree so you can get the socket on the bolts properly. Than bracing the triple tree to keep it from rotating while you remove the nuts. I did it alone, but getting a helper might be a good idea. :)

Don't remember exactly, but I do remember using a towel to protect the tank paint and then finding an area to push the triple tree against so it doesn't rotate. Might have even stuck a piece of wood down in there to further restrict the Tree from moving. Couldn't figure out how to disconnect the ignition wires so I could just remove the triple tree. Anyway a bit of a juggling act between the handlebar and the tree. You'll figure it out like I did. Sounds harder than it turns out to be :)

I put the risers on this morning with no issues what so ever. I used a carpenters clamp on the stock risers to hold the triple tree while removing the riser screws. Also used an old blanket to cover the tank while I worked. Easy installation and the more upright position makes the bike much more comfortable.

I'm wondering why the GT-Rx risers don't work on the NTX. Easier install than the Motobits, if those are still available. I'm thinking more in terms of the bar position for standing. I was thinking maybe more than an inch would be needed like the Rox Risers give. I guess they have their own issue as the cables just barely work and have to be relocated.

I need more miles to decide if I am going to make any change at all. Just thinking out loud right now.

Just put a set on and it fit the bill perfectly. Putting the bars in a perfect place. I come from the sport touring world and am used to the forward crouch and am still adopting to the sit up and beg position. The stock bars had me reaching out just a bit which was vaguely tiring but now they are perfect. Better standing too but I've not done much of that yet.

I was expecting the risers to be doweled for some reason. Well my old company doweled every damn thing. I was also surprised it's just one bolt per riser, Not that the 10mm bolts aren't plenty strong enough. The risers have to be square so I snugged them up, put the top triple clamp back on then put the bars on and tapped them with a soft blow hammer to force them into line. Then back off to tighten them.

A little pricey but it's got to be worth the mans while.
