Stelvio Oil Leak

Good luck with the leak? I asked/posted on WG about the 600+miles VS 900+miles first service advice I was being told to follow that is in "conflict" to the manuel with the higher number. No answer as to the source was posted. I had some nice riding weather prior to my service appointment and ended up having 800+ miles on her when I brough her in. The oil was perfect and she was running like a champ so I dismissed any "concern" as to the lower mile service. I justified it in my mind that I was within the factory recommendations and there was zero "hot" weather and stop and go city riding, just perfect Fall temps and miles of mountain roads to run her in as the God's intended. If I had any indication of a problem, I would have gone directly to the shop regardless the miles. I'd agree that keeping a close eye on her and running her like you stole her would be the proper course of action, maybe she was just a little damp with anticipation of her first real ride ;)

I think that was it - she WAS a little damp in anticipation of her first real ride!! :p  In any event, I have watched the garage floor and still no more drips to be seen! Today I dropped the bike off for the first service with 787 on the odometer. With the advice in mind of riding her like I stole her, I was able to ride her like God intended for most of those miles. However some stop-and-go/heavy traffic miles were inevitable. My home being in Manhattan, New York City, maybe a quarter of those miles were of the adverse kind.

My complaints are solely the now-extant oil leak, paint rippling around the gas cap metal, and faulty gas sensor, (allowing only 2 of the 3 sections of gas gauge to light).

Otherwise this bike is a champ!!! And like no other I've ever ridden. Sunday's 350 mile ride was comfortable, precise and awe-inspiring. The motorcycle does exactly what I ask of it. With ease and style to boot :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
