Hi all,

My Stelvio NTX has suddenly become reluctant to start. Symptoms are as follows: turn key, ignition comes on and cycles. Go to hit start button and it just clicks, does not fire. If I disconnect the negative terminal, then reconnect, it will start either first, or second, or third time. When removing the screw from the terminal, then putting it back, it sounds like a shorting sound.

Ayt ideas?

The shorting sound is normal when you reconnect the ground. Just have to do it faster and you won't get it.

Check to make sure your ground to the battery is tight and free from corrosion. Also check the positive terminal to make sure. This includes the main ground to the block that is found above the starter and also check the ground connection to the starter itself. If you remove the starter cover you will see them.

Does it behave differently if you hold the starter button down instead of just pushing it briefly?

Thanks for the replies and sorry for my late response. This was a case where I should have investigated before posting, but it was hosing it down at the time. The problem was nothing more than a very loose connection to the positive terminal. Bike's going great.
