If anybody is coming out this year, let me know so I can plan some
time off and show folks around!

I have never gone to Sturgis. However, I really do not care for:

1. Intoxicated people (years of moonlighting as a bartender did this to me)
2. Harley Davidson people (If you are all “Original Real Bikers” then how come you look like little clones of each other?)
3. Harley Davidson motorcycles (Style without substance incarnate).
4. Tatted up skanky women.
5. Tatted up smelly men.

So, I guess there really isn’t much for me at Sturgis but convince me otherwise! I love to be converted to a new viewpoint.

I’d love the countryside of SD though. When is this going to occur this year?

It‘s in my signature… “Very direct and to the point individual”

That sounded better than “horribly opinionated and cantankerous old fart”. :p

In truth, after surviving my recent major health issues, I am just happy to be alive. I want nothing but the best for everybody. I have no axes to grind, no fights to engage in, and certainly no stress to let into my life.

Okay, convince you otherwise....
Skanks, yes, lots of skanks, and older so you are not sure if it is their boobs or stomach, could
be a combination of both. There are some attractive ones also.
Drunks, yes there are, which is part of the fun of watching adults act like absolute idiots
dropping their Harleys while attempting to navigate Sturgis....
Dumbasses galore who just bought the bike and have no clue how to ride it!
Let's see, half a million people and bikes put into a town of 10,000 people...
Riding up I-90 to Sturgis and seeing a lot of Harleys broken down on the side of the road.
No one gets crap anymore for what they are riding, and trust me when I say you see them all
represented.
Now, the best part, the roads in South Dakota... Iron Moutain rode is as good as Tail of the Dragon
and Mount Rushmore is right there. Tons of riding through the Hills! Custer State Park with all the wildlife.
If you have never been to the Rally you need to see it once, to much crap to list happens there.
Plus while you are here Scott, you can help me fix the RPM gauge on the V7III, so get out here!

I agree that the drunken Harley Carnie scene is not my cup of whiskey. For me the experience of the ride is attractive. I'd probably be more inclined to travel up the week prior then be on the road back with the Sturgis crowd going the opposite way.
Always enjoy the actual locals when traveling and being able to do my own thing.
Read this title and thought what a interesting opportunity to finally use the Norge as God intended.

Offer stands, if interested I would be willing to take some
time off to show you around.
It is absolutely beautiful here, some of the best riding in the U.S. and people
are very friendly! Sturgis is more family orientated now days, and if you want
to see bikes of all kinds this is the place!

In my opinion the rally is worth going to at least once just to experience it. Two or three days at most the first time is enough. I have been many times in the past on a variety of bikes but never on a Harley. But not for the last 25 years....it just got too big and and crowded, roads too much traffic to enjoy riding.

When I go the Black Hills now I go in June or early September. The scenery, roads and the pit stops in the small towns are all great.

This is not a good year for riders...
Still don't know what happened, but spent 1 1/2 hours on I-90
with bike turned off with everyone else parked waiting for a Life-Flite
helicopter to take someone to the Hospital involved in a wreck....

My group goes the last week in July, good weather this year. We stay in Nemo which is kinda central. I rode the HD as my MG is broke down.

I was in the area the last week of June. Fantastic roads.

I stayed in Keystone. That place reminded me of places like Gatlinburg and Gettysburg with all the expensive shops.

Iron Mountain Road was one of my favorite roads up there. I enjoyed all of the loops in the area. We only have a few of those in my part of the country.

I saw a lot of Harleys and a few Indians. But mostly I saw folks riding adventure bikes. Lot's of Beemers and VStroms. I only saw two Moto Guzzis up there. One was a V85. The other one was something from the '70s.

I saw a lot of people driving side-by-sides on the roads. Are they street-legal in South Dakota?
