Hi All.

I just brought a 1995 Sport 1100 (Carbureted) for my sons Motorcycle Mechanic class "Project". The price was very right and the bike looks amazing. Needs a little work to free up the chokes, change the fluids, service the brakes etc, nothing an aspiring young Motor Cycle mechanic shouldn't be able to handle, once we get a battery.

I see from the manuals the '95 Sport 1100 had 2 batteries that look to be wired in Parallel mode. I've been unable to find a site that sells the factory dual battery set up. In fact most of the sites don't list batteries for the Sport 1100 although often they list batteries for the Sport 1100i.

Q1. Does a battery for the Sport 1100i fit the Sport 1100?

Q2. If the answer to Q1 is no, can anyone recommend a good battery for a '95 Sport 1100 (carb)

Many thanks.

Unless it is drastically different from every other carb Sport I've seen here stateside, and all of the F.I. versions, should be a Yuasa YTX15L-BS. Which side do you need the + on?
I have a few options as well; http://guzzitech.com/store/category/11-electronics - either WestCo AGMs or AG Lith-I offerings will work for you.

GT-Rx® Thanks for the rapid response and advice. After checking the available space and the dimensions of the batteries on http://guzzitech.com/store/category/11-electronics I ordered an AGM Classic: 12V20L.

The +ve lead on my '95 Sport 1100 (carb) is on the right - ie, towards the rear of the bike when viewed from the left side.

Thanks again for the rapid response and advice.

My pleasure, and thanks for the order!

I was looking forward to a last ride on the sport on Sunday before the road tax expires and I take it off the road for a look at the leaky gearbox gunging up the clutch. However even after a couple of days trickle charging and then in desperation a full on assult with a car charger the batteries won't hold a charge anymore, no great surprise they weren't tip top when I bought the bike last year.
So has anyone fitted a motobatt, they recommend a MBTX 12U. http://www.motobatt.com/
Not sure if they mean to fit two of these as per original equipment, otherwise it seems a bit lightweight.
I was thinking more of a single MBTX20U.
I'm very happy with the one I bought for the Stelvio but the ratings are different from normal batteries and ideally I'd just like to fit a single battery.
Any thoughts people?
Thx
Ray

Ray I run my sport carb model on a single battery , cables fit you just don't have the cables that loop two batteries together .I run a odyssey PC545 because of the type of battery you can lay it on its side so it fits .Got mine off ebay I also run this make of battery on me 1100 sport FI corsa

Thanks Johnno, came to much the same conclusion and ordered the bits last week.
Fitted a MB16U motobatt (20ah), took out the battery tray altogether, lined the metal tray holder with thin rubber and put a wooden (non conductive) spacer block in to stop any potential movement. Also ordered a "Little Boy" motobatt trickle charger that comes with all the leads to leave it permanently plugged in as I have more than one bike.
