So the pictures were how it was when you disassembled it before using the lithium grease or between the time you used the lithium grease and replaced it with the marine grease ?
just trying to get the pictures and the story lined up.
thanks,
Don

Ug !
Which grease was that ? have you had the bike from new ?
Hello, I used this for spline joint(drive shaft): Amazon product ASIN B00CPL8UPY
and regular(red, blue, green) or marine grade no lithium grease for bearings. The swing arm bearings and the needle bearings from the "dog bone" do not have full 360 degree rotation, they have 10-15 degrees sectional movement.

and using DIESEL(fuel) only to remove the rust. But all of the lubricants are my personal choice after reading and asking.

I'm in the middle of fitting a "new" old Perkins diesel into our old Willard (Long Beach) trawler (that's a boat, in case you are totally motorcycle focused;)) It's a drawn out affair. By the end of November I should be ready to tackle the swing-arm bearings on my two carcs. This post has, thanks to all who have posted here, turned into the ultimate tutorial for exactly that. I thank you all:inlove:
Here I am, one year layer, both carcs fitted with new bearings after inspecting and repacking last year. The parts took a while. After 17 years and 110K km each, with limited lubrication they were "not great". Now ready for a long run.
I used marine grade grease. If it works in salt water, it should handle what the hiways can throw at it.
Mine is "Quicksilver", recommended by Mercury marine.
The second time around, it was pleasant work for great peace of mind.

Grease on Splines, Swing-Arm Bearings, or Shock Linkages is there to keep Moisture out, far more than for actual Lubrication.
None of them rotate at high speed, or over much radial range, nor do they produce any heat, so pretty-much any Grease will do just fine.
Use Yak's Fat if you have it, anything that stops Moisture getting to the Bearing Surfaces.
