Hi friends! Recently purchased MOTO Guzzi 1200 Sport 4V with mileage 7000 km. Started by servicing and adjusting valve clearances can't find tags TDC of the compression stroke. In Service Station manual 981092 not specified how to find such a label. What are the valve clearances tolerances? Is there a particular setting valve clearances? With respect, your colleague from Siberia!

Welcome to the forum. The service manual is located in the resource section. Clearances (in the maintenance section of the manual) are to be set on a cold engine. Intake 0.10mm (0.0039 inch) Exhaust 0.15mm (0.0059 inch). You find TDC by feel. Use a plastic straw or similar down the spark plug hole to feel for TDC on the compression stroke. I have to admit I don't like the way Guzzi is doing their manuals. I miss the tables of specifications so you don't have to hunt through the entire manual for what you need.

Thank you, John. The definition of TDC has no special problems. But how do you know that this is the TDC of the compression stroke and not another tact? And yet. How much pressure must be in line fuel pump and where better to make measurements? Sincerely, Anatoly.

But how do you know that this is the TDC of the compression stroke and not another tact?
Place your thumb over the spark plug hole and rotate the engine until you can feel some compression. Then replace thumb with drinking straw or chopstick and rotate for maximum height of piston stroke.
OR, observe inlet valve open and then close when rotating engine. Next TDC is the compression stroke.
