Is the pin out for the USB to Serial Adapter a standard pin out or is it TechnoResearch unique?
I see the name on the adapter is "Keyspanlg". Sounds like a 3rd party thing.

I see similar things out there;

I wonder if there is a standard transition....

Really can't answer the question in se, but as I bought just any of-the-shelf adapter serial-USB for my VDSTS, and it works just fine, I'd guess it's not unique.

Thanks Holt. I'm leaning the same way but I d hate to screw something up...

I use a cheapo off the shelf USB to RS232 and it works fine.
I have heard that some of them can be a problem though.

Don, the high-speed KeySpan is critical for DirectLink, not so much VDSTS. I too use a generic usb to 9-pin adapter I grabbed at Frys.

Thanks guys. I'm heading over to Fry's now.
Jon's coming over and we'll tinker with the SS till it sings.
Then its off the Little T sand and rock slalom.

seems the brand x units dont come with a driver, and xp does not have a driver, so its a bit of searching for it.... but they work, why I was able to set my griso back to stock TPS settings and make it run funny.... ;)
